United for Ukraine in British Columbia

by UNITED WAY BRITISH COLUMBIA

United Way British Columbia supports communities and strengthens vital connections that make them healthy; this includes newcomers seeking safety and belonging.

Because we’re embedded in local communities across the province and can nimbly respond to needs as they arise, we, in coordination with others, have been invited by the provincial government to support the integration of displaced Ukrainian people seeking refuge in BC.

Through our newly integrated bc211 service, we have established a special support line to ensure that newly arrived Ukrainians can receive help in their own language as they navigate available services including access to food and shelter, mental health and addictions support, legal and financial assistance and support for seniors. Available province-wide, bc211 provides free, confidential and multilingual services, including in Ukrainian and Russian, and provides access to over 15,500 community, government and social supports and programs 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.

We know that a variety of programs and essential supports will be critical in helping Ukrainian people settle into our communities. Together, with the help of our donors and partners, we are bringing together the power of many to support those who have fled the horrible violence in search of safety and hope. Please support our vital work on the ground so we can address important social needs including access to basic necessities and services through local community hubs, volunteers, friends, and neighbours.
