United Way Greater Toronto: Housing and Homelessness Impact Area

op UNITED WAY GREATER TORONTO

Every night, more than 8,500 people in Toronto, Peel, and York may have to sleep in shelters, drop-in centres, or other temporary facilities. Others remain outdoors.

People experiencing homelessness are impacted by a mix of structural factors, system failures, and individual circumstances. As our community faces escalating housing costs and high demand, those struggling to secure and maintain permanent affordable housing are in crisis. Although homelessness impacts people from all walks of life, members of communities that have been structurally disadvantaged or face systemic barriers and inequities, including Indigenous, racialized, and 2SLGBTQ+ people, continue to make up a disproportionate share of those experiencing homelessness.

At United Way Greater Toronto, we aim to prevent, reduce, and lessen the risks of homelessness.

As a partner, advocate, and community-builder, we take a multi-pronged approach to this complex challenge, supporting solutions that address urgent and unmet needs through focused programs as well as strategies for systems-level change.

Please join United Way Greater Toronto in ending homelessness by donating today.
