Childhood Cancer Cause

de Canadian Cancer Society – Société canadienne du cancer

At the Canadian Cancer Society, we believe that one child with cancer is one too many. Your support has never been more important as approximately 1,500 children and teens are diagnosed with cancer each year in Canada.

Progress is being made against childhood cancer. The 5-year survival rate for childhood cancer is about 83%.

While progress has been made, there is more work to be done because childhood cancer is still the number one cause of disease-related death in Canadian children. Also, 2 out of 3 childhood cancer survivors suffer long-term side effects from their treatment.

Your gift will help:

- Invest in childhood cancer research that explores new ways to detect, diagnose and treat childhood cancer

- Invest in research to reduce long-term side effects faced by survivors as a result of their treatments.

- Provide help to children and families so they do not have to face cancer alone. CCS provides reliable information through our website and Cancer Information Service, supports parents through our peer support programs and helps families get to treatment through our transportation programs. In some provinces, we offer camps for children with cancer, lodges when families need to travel long distances for treatment and financial support programs.

- Help us continue our work so that fewer children will have to face cancer.
