UNICEF’s Rohingya Crisis Relief Fund

by CANADIAN UNICEF COMMITTEE COMITE UNICEF CANADA

Since August 25, 2017, more than 650,000 people are estimated to have fled violence in Myanmar and crossed the border into Bangladesh. Up to 60% of those refugees are children.

The speed and magnitude of the Rohingya refugee crisis has overwhelmed the capacity of the Government of Bangladesh and humanitarian agencies to respond to people’s immediate needs.

UNICEF is working tirelessly to provide safe water and sanitation support. We have deployed a vaccination campaign against measles, rubella and polio to immunize 150,000 Rohingya children in 68 refugee settlements close to the border with Myanmar.

More than 380,000 newly arrived children are in need of humanitarian assistance. Many come in shock, having lost family members or witnessed traumatic incidents; some are alone, with alarming reports of unaccompanied minors. They are in dire need of psychosocial support.

Help us deliver immediate life-saving humanitarian assistance to Rohingya refugees. These funds will be directed exclusively to relief efforts to the Rohingya crisis. The Rohingya children need our help.

In the event that UNICEF receives more funds than required to respond to this crisis, your gift will help support UNICEF’s work for children around the world, wherever the need is greatest.
